Ovation String Quartet was formed through friendships and mutual passions for making music together. Each of us has at least one degree in music, and we are dedicated to making each performance memorable. Collectively, we have many years of experience with the quartet, and with other chamber groups and orchestras.
There are many great string quartets to consider for your wedding, party or event. So, what makes Ovation unique?
Service! Our clients are important to us, and we provide personalized service at every step along the way.
Huge repertoire list. We are very versatile and love to play different styles such as Classical, Popular, Classic Rock, and Jazz. (See our popular repertoire list on the “Music” page.)
Special Requests. If you have a song in mind and it’s not already on our list, we will create a special arrangement at no extra cost (up to 2 per event).
Live Performances. We put ourselves out into the community and periodically play live at coffee shops and restaurants.
Proven history of client satisfaction! Please google Ovation String Quartet and read our reviews.
Ovation typically plays 50-60 events per year (mostly weddings and private parties), and have played in venues all over the Twin Cities area. For smaller events, we also break down to a trio, duo, or solo instrument. Occasionally, one of us has a conflict but we have many subs who know our repertoire and are just as dedicated to the quartet.
We'd love to have you contact us for a quote for your event, or to ask any question you may have. We take pride in doing our best to make each event memorable!
** Ovation String Quartet won the Wedding Wire Couples' Choice Award in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, and The Knot’s Best of Weddings in 2018 **
When we are already booked....
We are pleased to have a partnership with Sonare Strings, and often when we are booked, they are able to step in. You get the same quality, the same service, the same commitment to you, the client. As part of the partnership, we share our contemporary/popular music repertoire with Sonare.
Here is a brief bio...
Sonare Strings is a network of trained classical musicians who work to provide quality string music for special occasions. All of our musicians have completed a minimum of undergraduate college level music training. We love playing music and would be honored to work with you.
Kristyn Rupp, violinist and main contractor, has been playing violin since she was 5 years old. She has studied with the concertmaster of the Pasadena (CA) Symphony Orchestra, the assistant concertmaster of the Louisville Orchestra, and the assistant concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra as well as a highly esteemed music educator in the Minneapolis Metropolitan area. After completing graduate studies in violin performance and music therapy, she pursued a career working with seniors . She also serves as concertmaster of Exultate Chamber Orchestra and teaches elementary orchestra through the ISD 196 Community Education program.
Laurie also plays in a group called Poetic Sound which plays jazz and cover songs with an acoustic style (violin, vocals, guitar, keyboard). If you need some dinner background music, we can offer a package deal. Poetic Sound can also break down to trio, duo or solo piano.
